High Five For Friday!

Phew! Thank goodness it's Friday! Friday, I have been waiting for you since Monday morning! :) Haha, just kidding! (no, I'm totally not!) Check out the five high points of my week:

1. I know some of you guys got a good bit of snow this week, but, to my great pleasure, we only got a slight dusting on Tuesday morning. And trust me, I am not being sarcastic! I have had the winter blues since the first of the year, so I am glad there was no snow. Because I live in the deep South, even a dusting at 7:00 am causes people to cancel their plans, so some of our plans got cancelled! PS: it's not that I hate snow, I just would rather move into Spring already!

2. I have started a new weekly series here on the blog called Favorite... blank. Since it is weekly, I will post one installment every week for around 8 weeks. Each installment will be a list of my favorite of something. This week I posted the first installment: Favorite.... Purses. In that post, I showed the three favorite different types of purses. You should check it out! You can see it here.

3. We have had some great sermons this week, and I definitely feel God working on me! Isn't it wonderful to know that He never gives up on us? Even when we fail Him daily, He just keeps working, molding, and shaping. I don't know about you, but it just gives me great joy to know that He is not finished with me yet!

4. It is supposed to warm up a little bit this week, so I will hopefully have some spring-y outfits for you guys! I am hoping to take pictures of some super cute outfit inspiration tomorrow, so don't forget to stop by to check some out next week! :)

5. We have a pretty free weekend, so I am looking forward to a good bit of catch up time. What kind of catch up time, do you ask? All kinds of catch up time! I will catch up on TV, cleaning, blogging, and most importantly, rest! I cannot wait!

What happened to you this week? I'd love to hear from you!

I titled this post "Good Juxtapositions" because this outfit has them. For instance: the black jeans and ankle boots look very moto-ish (so not a word, but you know what I mean :)), but the lace on the shirt help to balance it all out, and the pretty pastel pink balances out some of the hard, dark lines of the pants.

I like wearing outfits with good juxtapositions because it makes the outfit even more interesting than it already is. It helps to give the outfit more flare, and it catches peoples' eyes. It also makes you look so much more put together.

Other juxtapositions would be pastels and dark colors, button down and tulle skirt, leather and floral print, etc. One thing that is really big in women's fashion right now is wearing menswear inspired pieces which would be very easy to juxtapose with some girly pieces that you already own.

Would you wear an outfit like this? If so, what would you wear?

My Favorite.... Purses

Hi there! Happy Tuesday! I have a new weekly series for you guys called My Favorite.... blank. Today I am going to show you some of my favorite purses.

Bows and Clothes: Favorite.... Purses. Clutches, cross body, and satchels. http://mybowsandclothes.blogspot.com/. #clutch #crossbody #satchel #purses

There are three different types of purses that I love that I am going to feature today: clutches, cross body, and satchels. First off is clutches:

Bows and Clothes: Favorite.... Purses. Clutches, cross body, and satchels. http://mybowsandclothes.blogspot.com/. #clutch #crossbody #satchel #purses

Clutches are a part of my favorite purses because they can easily dress up an outfit. They are effortless and cute. My favorite type of clutch purses has to be a fold-over clutch like number two. I like them the best because they are the least dressy. I don't usually go to very fancy places, so fold-over clutches are the most practical for me.

Next up we have cross body purses:

Bows and Clothes: Favorite.... Purses. Clutches, cross body, and satchels. http://mybowsandclothes.blogspot.com/. #clutch #crossbody #satchel #purses
one, two, three

Cross body purses make it into my top three (these are in no particular order, by the way) because they are the most practical. They are the most practical because you don't have to carry them. They just stay right on your shoulder which is probably the best part. :)

On a side note: how cute are these colors? not only together, but also on their own. I know really want a coral/orange purse! :)

And lastly, satchels:

Bows and Clothes: Favorite.... Purses. Clutches, cross body, and satchels. http://mybowsandclothes.blogspot.com/. #clutch #crossbody #satchel #purses
one, two, three

I added satchels to my list because they are so big and can carry lots of stuff. I have one that I love to death because it can carry so much. I keep my book, lotion, perfume, and sometimes a light sweater in addition to all of my normal purse things. These also have a cross-over strap so that you can wear it like a cross body.

My favorite out of these would have to be number three. I love it because obviously I love bows, hence the blog name. I also really like the bright berry color of number two.

And that sums it up! Don't forget to come back next time for the next installment!

What is your favorite type of purse? What color would you buy?

Happy Monday! I'm sitting here dying for Spring! How about you? After a very strange and early snow on November 1st, and hearing many times the news casters call for snow I am most definitely not looking forward to supposed snow tomorrow. Some of my friends say that they'd rather have snow so that there would be reason for the frigid temps and so that we would be getting something out of the snow, but all I want is Spring.

I guess I'll just have to wait it out and try to make it feel like Spring with bright colors. I love pastels and bright colors, so using them to make it feel less like a winter wonderland and more like a beautiful Spring day makes me feel a little bit better. :)

Would you wear brights for Winter? Are you ready for spring?

A Common Misconception

A Common Fashion Blogger Misconception || Bows and Clothes http://mybowsandclothes.blogspot.com/

There is a very common misconception that many readers make about fashion bloggers. Many readers believe that fashion bloggers are perfect. I am here to prove that misconception very, very wrong! We are most definitely imperfect!

Some people (and I have been one of them!) look at fashion blogs and think about how perfect they think that fashion bloggers are. They think that fashion bloggers have better wardrobes, better bodies, better lives, better everything. They look on and into the bloggers lives and compare themselves. They think that they could never be as good as those hero-ified fashion bloggers.

Don't get me wrong! I don't think that fashion bloggers should have less followers. On the contrary, I think that readers should compare themselves to others less. They/we should try to realize that God has made us just the way He wants us to be! He doesn't like it when we compare.

I also think that fashion blogs should be a place to help women to love their God-given bodies. Where they can go to feel like a million bucks. Because they/you are MORE than a million bucks!

That is one reason why I started this blog. I want to show that fashion blogs are meant for inspiration, not comparison. Fashion blogs/ Bows and Clothes are here to give suggestions, not what you have to own, wear, be.

Bows and Clothes is here to give inspiration, suggestions, and encouragement, not a source of envy. I just felt like you, reader, should know how much I care. I wanted you to know what Bows and Clothes is here for.

Thanks for listening to my ramble. :)

Happy Hump Day! How are you? I have had a VERY busy day so far. I feel like I am always going and never stop. But as one of my friends told me, "If not busy, then boring." It always reminds me that if I wasn't busy, I'd probably be very lazy and would be watching television, and I think we all know which is the better option. :)

I find that most of my busy days are the days in which I am the the happiest. I believe that I am always so cheerful because when I am busy, I am most dependent on God to get me through my day. As a result of my dependency, I am less worried about what I will not get done, and am more focused on what I have already done, and on the task at hand. It is a total perspective change.

I love that this outfit is pretty monochromatic until you get to the boot socks. It is just different shades of blue, and then POW! you see the lovely pop of peach. Hmmmm, I like that. Maybe I should have named thid post "Pop of Peach". Oh well. It is already done now. :)

Have a good rest of your Wednesday! What do you do to keep from getting too stressed? I'd love to hear from you!

Random Rambles

Sometimes I have stuff that I want to tell y'all, but it doesn't have enough information to make a whole blog post. So, I have started Random Rambles for all of those random links, things I love, or tidbits. Here we go:

I got a pair of nude heels and have been going crazy looking for and pinning different outfits to wear them with. I especially like this one, this one, this one. You can find all the rest of them on my Clothes board on Pinterest.

The last pin above has my new favorite piece, a coral blazer. I haven't actually bought one yet, but I cannot wait until I do.

After wanting to try them for a while, I finally got some chia seeds. I have not tried any yet, but have been looking at recipes. Have any ideas?

I just joined Twitter! Hop on over there and follow me!

I have been thinking about sewing a leather fold over clutch, but I haven't got up the guts yet to buy all of the supplies and try my hand at it. I have an irrational fear that I will not succeed and will waste my money on the very expensive products required to make the clutch. Oh wait, I'm pretty sure that fear isn't irrational. :)

Well, that is all! Hope you have enjoyed my Random Rambles!

Happy Monday! Today has not been my favorite. Although I had a great weekend getaway, I am extremely tired, and I think that I am getting sick. :(  Right now I am curled up on the couch with a blanket in front of the television trying to catch up on some blogging stuff.

Anyway, enough about me. On to the outfit:

I wore this outfit a few Sundays ago. I wore the first outfit in the morning, and then just switched the skirt out for jeans for Sunday night church.

I came up with this outfit when I was in a rut. When I get into outfit ruts I usually grab my maxi skirt because it is so stinking comfy, and I can wear it tons of ways.

I also wanted to wear this necklace which I bought thinking that since it was neutral, it would go with practically everything, but I haven't been grabbing it lately. I think that the reason why I have not worn it much is because I usually wear colored necklaces is to add color to an outfit. Well guess I need to start branching out from the norm, huh? :)

I love this outfit because it looks so put together without looking too grand. It is simple, but so cute.

Eye Catchers: Jumpsuits

As I am gearing up toward Spring, I have realized how much I want to get a jumpsuit. At first I wasn't sure if I even liked them, but they have really grown on me. They have grown on me so much that I am already making outfits in my head with one, but I haven't even bought one yet!

I decided to create a collage with some jumpsuits that I like and might possibly buy. All of them are under $35.

As you can see, I am really drawn to black ones. I think that I want a black one because they will be the most versatile and will be easy to remix. I threw in the royal blue one because I felt like the collage needed a little break from the black monotony. I do sorta like it, too, though. :)

I imagine that I will wear a jumpsuit with my jean jacket the most. I also imagine that I will wear statement necklaces and some fun wedges.

I also want one because I know that I can dress it up, dress it down, and dress it middle. :) They seem like they can be worn millions of different ways.

I cannot wait to get my hands on one and wear it many different ways! When I do buy one, I will definitely post tons of ways to wear one.

Would you buy a jumpsuit? If so, how would you wear it?

Happy Tuesday! How has your day been so far?

I enjoy wearing this outfit because I love a good layered look as you probably know by now. Blazers are probably the best way to layer because they are extremely versatile. I love my blazer because it adds a little bit more interest to the outfit because of its polka dot pattern. It could also be considered bold.

I always used to think that an outfit had to be an explosion of color. For instance: I wore an outfit one day that consisted of bright turquoise pants, an almost neon yellow top, and a hot pink cardigan. Not that that outfit was ugly, just that it could have been worn with a little bit less color. I can imagine that I looked like a walking Easter egg. :)

I now know that patterns and textures can make an outfit more interesting as well as colors. Like this outfit only has one color: the purple statement necklace. But it is not boring. The polka dot pattern, the texture and pockets of the chambray, and the contrast of the black boots against the bright white of the jeans makes this outfit interesting in addition to the purple statement necklace.

What is your favorite element of this outfit? Would you try a bold piece like a patterned blazer?
